RiverNET 1.1 Is Up and Running
The RiverNET Application is now available in version 1.1. RiverNET is YERC’s community-based cooperative watershed monitoring program. This transition on our data-sharing platform moves the application out of “beta” form and allows for more user control and a revamped look that will streamline the usability of the application.
2022 marks the fourth year of RiverNET’s operation and it continues to grow to serve the community and inform water management practices. New updates will continue to optimize the services it provides to recreationists, outfitters, landowners, and government agencies that care about water resources in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem.
Pat Treacy, RiverNET Coordinator explains how the update is a key step in providing the community with purposeful data, “I believe the new RiverNET application will really be the keystone for watershed conservation in Paradise Valley and throughout the GYE. The new application makes high quality data on the headwaters of some of our most pristine rivers accessible to anyone who is interested. This in-turn gives stakeholders the tools necessary to help them make informed land management and conservation focused decisions, which will ensure the future of these watersheds.”
RiverNET operates as a key component of watershed monitoring that focuses on quality and flow at the tributary level. This analysis of the watershed incorporates key diagnostics that are otherwise left out of other monitoring programs. This new iteration of RiverNET also includes a wide variety of resources to help users find information, navigate the app, and access RiverNET news.
New features include:
Capacity for users to create and edit their profiles
An application landing page with live news and updates about the program
New and improved visualizations for the data
Improved map view functionality
Resource library feature with links to program protocols and other information related to the program
Now RiverNET users will be able to keep up to date with news from the YERC team about additions to the program and water health updates via the Home Screen in the application. Additionally, the mapping function of the application adds in depth view of water monitoring station’s data that can be easily filtered for efficient searches. As RiverNET adds more watersheds to the application this feature will be key in finding the stations relevant to your search.
